: If He's So Smart...: Fast Company | Steve Jobs, Apple, and the Limits of Innovation: "The battle over digital music is just another verse in Apple's sad song: This astonishingly imaginative company keeps getting muscled out of markets it creates. So what does Apple have to tell us about innovation?" This is a long article that makes some mistakes (Microsoft is not the best example of a licensor), but makes the depressing case that innovation is not a sound business model. I also suspect the author can't grasp Jobs' more secular motives (rock star). Obviously, Apple products could be made cheaper, but isn't there room for something upscale?
